Digartref Cyf is a registered charity, providing a range of services that aim to alleviate the effects of homelessness on individuals, families and our local community.
We are pleased to announce that we have secured additional funding for this busy service and are therefore looking to recruit an enthusiastic Lighthouse Day Centre Worker, based in Holyhead who has empathy and understanding of homelessness issues and the related effects on individuals and the wider community.
The post holder will be required to work as part of a team, ensuring the provision of a 7 day per week direct access Day Centre service for those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, where people, in need can access hot food cooked on the premises, laundry and bathing facilities, as well as a wide variety of additional housing and homeless related support, including appropriate sign-posting and referring people to specialist services. A flexible approach to working hours will be required to cover a rota which includes covering the following hours: 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 3pm Saturday and Sunday, therefore some weekend work will be required in line with a rolling rota.
Ideally applicants would be expected to:

Have related work experience in homelessness, housing, social care, working with individuals with complex support needs or have transferable skills and experience.

Have a working knowledge of Welfare Benefits or the ability to learn.

Have empathy and understanding of those affected by homelessness and the issues impacting, being non-judgmental, being helpful and approachable.

Have a good standard of I.T skills and experience and use of Microsoft Office

Have a flexible approach to working hours including weekends (working to a 7-day rota)

The ability to drive and having access to a car is essential

The ability to communicate effectively through the medium of Welsh and English or the willingness to learn

The successful candidate will require an enhanced DBS check that will be processed by Digartref Cyf
